Experience, expertise, and excellence were the fundamental set of principles by which Wandling Engineering was established in 1976. This set of principles has formed the cornerstone for the scientifically sound engineering services that the company continues to provide.
History
The foundation for Wandling Engineering was laid by Donald E. Wandling during his employment in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Over a period of ten years, Mr. Wandling’s clientele grew, and in 1976 he made the decision to start his own company.
Today
Dr. George Wandling became President of the company in 2009. Today Wandling Engineering employs five engineers and three technical specialists, a financial manager, and an office manager. Their client list continues to grow with clients located from coast to coast.
Location
Ames, Iowa is located 30 miles north of Des Moines, the state capitol. It has a population of over 50,000 and has a vibrant economic base. It is home to Iowa State University, is one of two national sites for the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health and Inspection Service (APHIS), and also the site of the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service’s National Animal Disease Center. Other area employers include a 3M manufacturing plant; Sauer-Danfoss, a hydraulics manufacturer; Barilla, a pasta manufacturer; and Ball, a manufacturer of canning jars and plastic bottles. Ames has a municipal airport and is within 45 minutes of Des Moines International Airport.
