George R. Wandling, Ph.D., P.E.    
 
Dr. George R. Wandling brings to Wandling Engineering more than 20 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of machines and machine components. George's industry experience in product development coupled with his research at Iowa State University in temperature control valves, LP gas systems, and computer synthesis of mechanisms provides a broad resource of knowledge to our clients.    
While with IBM in Charlotte, North Carolina, George managed product development engineers. His responsibilities included the management of hardware development and also a variety of areas related to human factors, product safety, industrial design, power and logic module design, electronic packaging and cooling, and design for reliability and serviceability. Specifically, his hardware development work included hardware design, as well as consideration in the areas of warnings, installation instructions, operating maintenance manuals, and field service bulletins and manuals.  
         
                   
While with IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, George managed new technology development on both hardware and software products that linked IBM and other worldwide technology based companies.
George is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of North Carolina and Iowa and has earned a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University. George's graduate work focused on machine design, mechanisms, dynamic systems and control, thermodynamics and energy systems.
In addition, George has consulted in product design, safety, hazard analysis, and has provided expert testimony in both State and Federal Courts. George is currently an officer for the Central Iowa Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
