  Thomas J. Friedrichsen, P.E.            
           
Thomas J. Friedrichsen has over 25 years of engineering experience. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University. His engineering experience and education is complemented by considerable hands-on experience with tools and machinery.    
Tom has worked in industry designing controls for appliances and hydraulic cranes. He was employed by General Electric in the design and application of electrical switches for appliances, including the redesign of products to meet new ANSI safety standards. At Harnischfeger Corporation, Tom designed electrical and pneumatic circuits and controls for hydraulic trucks and rough terrain cranes. He also worked on the layout of controls and the development of manuals.  
Tom, raised on a grain and livestock farm in Iowa, has practical experience with many types of farm machinery. As an undergraduate, Tom worked in the Iowa State University Research Laboratories, and was also employed by the 3M Company as a co-op student. While at 3M, Tom gained experience working in departments that designed photocopiers and microfilm machines. He also worked in manufacturing engineering at a 3M facility which produced a variety of electrical connectors.
At Wandling Engineering, Tom has consulted on the design and manufacture of a wide variety of machines and equipment. He has evaluated and analyzed product safety, hazards, instructions, and warnings. He has investigated fires and explosions and has extensive experience reconstructing accidents.
 
Tom has been a registered professional engineer in Iowa since 1979. He has testified as an expert in both State and Federal Courts. Tom's graduate coursework included advanced strength of materials, friction and wear, fracture mechanics, and machine design.
